ROBERT MARTIN
The Man Behind the Mic
Robert Martin was once asked by his second grade teacher if he ever wished that his brother or sister would have been born with a disability instead of him. It didn't take long to respond. "No, Ma'am!" I'm glad that God gave me my disability." From a very young age, Robert has relied on his relationship with the Lord to help him overcome the challenges that life would bring.
At birth, Robert's lung collapsed and as a result, he was diagnosed with cerebral palsy. This was the beginning of many uphill battles for him. Fortunately, he was rasied in a Christian home and accepted the Lord as his Savior at the young age of eight years old. This relationship would continue to grow throughout his school years.
In high school, Robert was chosen, through WorkForce Development, to participate in a job study as a DJ for a Gospel radio station, WBLB 1340 AM in Pulaski, Virginia. It was here that Robert's love for the profession grew. At seventeen years, old, he was able to share his testimony with his listeners. His love for the Lord continued to grow and his desire to serve would lead him to his next mission field.
At twenty-three years old, he was given the opportunity to pastor a small country church, Liberty Missionary Baptist in Ronceverte, West Virginia. Determined to start a life of his own, he moved out from the care of his parents and began living independently while preaching the Word of God.
Upon completion of his pastoral duties, Robert was faced with many negative advisories and health conditions. His relationship with the Lord began to be severed and the complications from a stroke left him unable to care for himself. After living independently for several years, living a dependent life again was enough to make him realize he needed to heal the broken relationship with his Heavenly Father. With God's help, Robert began searching for his purpose in life while working to gain his independence again.
Reflecting back on his earlier years and the fulfillment he received from serving at the radio station, Robert decided to start his own Internet radio station. This is where DJ 4 God Radio originated. On June 15, 2021, Robert signed on as DJ 4 God once again and began proclaiming the love of Jesus while trying to reach souls for the Lord.
DJ 4 God Radio offers a variety of music including Southern, Bluegrass and Christian Gospel, Instrumental and Contemporary Christian. Listeners can tune in twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week for music that is sure to bless the soul. He also has several live broadcasts throughout the week. Each weekday, Monday through Friday, Robert hosts a "DJ 4 God Live" show from 9:00am until 2:00pm EST. This gives listeners the opportunity to call in or text their requests directly to Robert himself.
